Our Story
“Our first date felt as if we were two lifelong friends who just hadn’t met yet. We laughed and told stories while bouncing from one place to the next. We lifted the cocktail glasses from the last place we went to that night and still have them on display at home.”
— James
“As James and I learned more about each other we realized that nearly our whole lives we were separated by one degree— growing up a few miles from one another, attending the same parties, going to the same concerts, and knowing a lot of the same people. It was years worth of a missed connection that neither one of us knew about.”
— Erica
In May of 2019, Erica was living in Brooklyn and had her dating app settings set to a radius of 5 miles. James was living 65 miles away in Port Jefferson, but somehow his profile made its way onto Erica’s screen. She swiped right and it was a match!
They chatted for a bit and decided to meet when Erica was on Long Island next. They had an amazing first date in Port Jefferson filled with nervous giggles and a little too much tequila.
In early March of 2020, James decided to pack up and move-in with Erica in Brooklyn. The timing couldn’t have been better. Throughout quarantine they cooked their way through Alison Roman’s Nothing Fancy, worked remotely together from the couch, and adopted a kitten.
Fast forward to December 2021, James got down on one knee in front of Danfords, the place where they met for the first time. Erica cried hysterically before James could even pop the question.
And the rest is history
